I'm a native Japanese speaker living in Tokyo.

This site is for beginners who want to learn Japanese that people here actually use. I read the free lessons, public samples, and official pages of learning apps and courses, then note which phrases sound natural in everyday Tokyo life and which ones mostly appear in textbooks.

How I write reviews

• Research-based, and I say so. I'm a native speaker, so I don't study Japanese with these apps myself. I don't claim to have used a product when I haven't. My comparisons are based on public samples, free lessons, and official information.
• Prices are dated. Prices and plans change often. Each article shows the date I checked them.
• Free options count. If a free tool is enough for you, I'll tell you, even though free tools don't pay me anything.
